As a historian, I am a generalist, interested in most diverse themes and topics of our past. Prior to my current position in Finland, I have studied and worked at several universities, on three continents. As an academic specialist, I am mainly interested in environmental history, Sámi history, educational history and environmental ethics. I have also published popular science essays and held many public lectures. I like to venture outside of academia, and have, among other things, published a children’s book on the global history of the city of Turku in Southwestern Finland.
Within Young Academy Finland, I am a member of the board (2023–2024) and I participate enthusiastically in the work of the science education theme group of YAF.
