My research fields are Technology Education and Engineering Education Research. I have an academic background in educational science. I am interested in creative, open-ended collaborative learning and instructional processes. These processes enable the co-creation of technological innovations and solutions to societal challenges, such as sustainability issues. Addressing complex challenges benefits from collaboration between learners, teachers, and stakeholders with diverse disciplinary backgrounds. My research aims to support the development of educational practices across all levels of education by deepening understanding of ways to combine and integrate disciplines in teaching.
I completed my Doctor of Science (Technology) degree in Technology Education at Aalto University in 2025. In my dissertation, I explored how team teaching enables multidisciplinary, design-based technology education in Finnish primary, secondary, and upper secondary education. My research was part of the development work of OpiT!, a continuing education program for teachers and student teachers in technology education, jointly established by Aalto University and the University of Helsinki.
I currently work as a postdoctoral researcher at Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands. I conduct a longitudinal study on the impact of Challenge-Based Learning (CBL) on student learning in bachelor’s programs. In addition, I work in an innovation project funded by the 4TU.Centre for Engineering Education (4TU.CEE). In this project, I study how transdisciplinary CBL, which brings together multiple stakeholders and diverse areas of expertise, can be applied to address sustainability challenges in electronics recycling.
Alongside my postdoctoral work, I am a visiting researcher at Aalto University, and I serve as an Associate Editor for the European Journal of Engineering Education.
