Ilkka Kärrylä

I am a university teacher in contemporary history at the University of Turku. I specialize in political history, economic history and the history of ideas, especially economic thought and economic policy in the Nordic countries after World War II. In my doctoral dissertation in political history (University of Helsinki, 2019), I examined ideas about the application of democracy to the economy and working life in Finland and Sweden from the 1960s onwards. As a postdoc, I worked at the University of Helsinki, Centre for Nordic Studies on a joint Nordic project examining the history of neoliberalism.
