Oskari Sivula

I am a philosopher specialising in moral philosophy. My research focuses on ethical questions concerning risk and uncertainty, space ethics, environmental philosophy, and intergenerational ethics.

I am currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Helsinki, working on the project “Metaphysics, Ethics, and Epistemology of Risk”, funded by the Academy of Finland. In the project, my research aims to deepen our understanding of the ethical dimensions of imposing risks on others.

I received my master’s degree from the University of Amsterdam and my PhD from the University of Turku, where I defended my doctoral dissertation in 2025. My dissertation examined environmental-ethical questions related to space exploration, with a focus on biological forward contamination, or the spread of terrestrial life, such as microbes, to other celestial bodies.
