My research focuses on the intersections of religion, values, urban life, and politics. I received my doctorate in urban theology in May 2025. In my dissertation, I examined community-based food assistance from the perspectives of social inclusion and lived theology. Since then, I have researched, among other topics, the politics of belonging (University of Helsinki) and culture wars (Åbo Akademi University) in Finnish congregations and Christian communities.

I am particularly interested in questions of power, democracy, and recognition: Who is allowed to be visible and heard in religious communities, and under what conditions? What kinds of negotiations do religious actors engage in with different sectors of society? What is the place and role of religion in an increasingly secularized urban environment?

My research is interdisciplinary, and I am particularly passionate about ethnographic approaches and methods.
