Sami Honkasalo

Sami Honkasalo serves as an Assistant Professor of Japanese and Chinese at the University of Helsinki. His research primarily concerns grammatical description and linguistic typology. Honkasalo has researched the Gyalrongic languages spoken in Sichuan, China. In addition, he currently investigates Dungan, a Sinitic language of Central Asia, from the viewpoint of language contacts. He also studies the Chinese language of the Shang dynasty, the oldest attested Sino-Tibetan language.
