I am a philosopher of science with an interest in economics, the relationship between science and society, and scientific disagreements. I obtained my doctorate in 2024 at the University of Helsinki with a dissertation on pluralism and economics. In it, I examined, among other things, the benefits and drawbacks of having multiple research perspectives and approaches within a single discipline, and how the institutional and social structures within a discipline affect the type and diversity of research conducted.
After graduation, I worked as a visiting postdoctoral researcher at Leibniz University Hannover. During this time, I focused on questions related to expertise: How can laypeople distinguish real experts from those who only pretend to know about a subject? Who should one believe when experts disagree with each other? What should experts pay attention to so that they do not accidentally present themselves as experts on issues beyond their competence? In the fall of 2025, I continued my research on these topics as a grant-funded researcher at the University of Helsinki.
In 2026, I work as a visiting researcher at Stockholm University. My research concerns scientific disagreements around sustainable economic growth. Researchers in different fields have starkly contrasting views on whether economic growth can be made environmentally sustainable. I analyse where these disagreements stem from and what can be done to reconcile them.
