Dear Researcher! Welcome to the “Meet a researcher” service! By enrolling to the service, you will get a chance to participate to a virtual visit at schools.
The purpose of the service is to enable researcher’s virtual visits to schools and to institutes with upper secondary education (general upper secondary schools and vocational institutions). Visits will be carried out via video chat service (e.g. Teams, Meet, Zoom, Skype). The length of the visit is usually one lesson. To help the researcher to prepare the lesson, questions related to the chosen topic will be formulated by the pupils/students and shared to the researcher beforehand.
Researchers enroll to the service using the form in which they tell e.g. their field and topic of research. In the next phase, the coordinator of the service matches enrolled schools and researchers with each other. The researcher and the school will get each other’s contact information and agree on the details (timing of the visit, topic, suitable video chat service). Once the visit has taken place, both the teacher and the researcher fill the feedback form.
Researcher:
- Enrolls to the service by filling up the enrollment form.
- Agrees with the teacher on the details of the virtual visit (timing of the visit, topic, suitable video chat service).
- Prepares the lesson after receiving the pupils/students questions from the teacher.
- Performs the visit virtually.
- Fills in the feedback form once the virtual visit is over.
School/teacher
- Enrolls to the service by filling up the form.
- Having received the contact information of the researcher, gets in touch with his/her and agrees on the details of the virtual visit (timing of the visit, topic, suitable video chat service).
- Asks the pupils/students what sort of questions the chosen topic brings and shares those questions with the researcher well before the visit. The advance questions facilitate the preparation for the visit and add to the level of interaction during the visit.
- Arranges the lesson in which the virtual visit takes place.
- Fills in the feedback form once the virtual visit is over.
