Open position: Short-term investigator / coordinator − creating networks between Ukrainian and Finnish early-career researchers

Academic communities all over the world wish to offer their help to their Ukrainian colleagues, but there is a lot of obscurity in what Ukrainian researchers actually need. Surveys show many Ukrainian researchers who fled the war cannot find jobs in accordance with their specialty.  On the other hand, some Finnish institutions argue that there are fewer applicants than the support offered. Many researchers do not wish to leave their home country, and we should find ways to support them as well.

Young Academy Finland is looking for a short-term employee to help create networks between Ukrainian and Finnish early-career researchers and to identify the current situation and needs of Ukrainian (early-career) researchers who are residing in Finland, or who stayed in Ukraine but who may wish to receive support from Finland.

For this task, we wish to find primarily a Ukrainian who is residing in Finland, but the work may also be executed remotely by a person who is residing in Ukraine. The explicit tasks will be designed based on the background, language skills, and networks of the person who will be employed. The main qualifications for the employee are a bachelor’s degree and adequate knowledge of Ukrainian and English.

The total level of effort is 21 days between 1 November and 15 January and the salary is between 2800 − 3600 euros, depending on the employee’s education and experience.

If you are interested in this task, please send us your Curriculum Vitae and a Motivation Letter, in which you describe your background and networks. You may also suggest ideas on what your contribution and outcomes could be while executing this task. Please send these documents to riikka.hiltunen[at]yaf.fi by 27 October.
