The board of the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters has elected our new members for the 2026-2030 term. Elected members are researchers suggested by the disciplinary groups of the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters  and various science academies.

Among the newly elected members are members proposed by Young Academy Finland. The proposals were based on applications received through an open membership call. We received 60 applications before the deadline. The board of Young Academy Finland interviewed 19 applicants based on which eight member proposals were made to the board of the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters. In addition to scientific merits, emphasis was placed on the applicants’ motivation to participate in the activities of Young Academy Finland.

New members will officially commence their term at the autumn general meeting, to be held on September 11, where the 2022–2026 term members will become alumni. Young Academy Finland will then have 214 members including alumni members.

“I warmly welcome our new members among us! The level of applicants was high again this year and our new members represent the leading edge of their fields in Finland. I encourage everyone to take active part in our activities starting from the autumn meeting. In addition to the official program, free-form conversations across disciplinary boundaries are the highlight of the meeting”, urges chair of Young Academy Finland Samuli Autti.
